Yamato Gokin was established in 1941 as a special metals laboratory in Itabashi-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Its founder and president, Dr. Shigeru Hagino, started this company for research and development as well as for manufacturing high-strength and fine-grain alloys (YG bronze) for various requirements in vital machine parts of various industries such as automobiles, aircraft, and naval ordinances, etc. High quality and performance of these alloys was widely accepted, and their demand increased rapidly and greatly.

This laboratory was reorganized into Yamato Gokin (Alloy) Ltd. in April, 1943, for production of mostly ordinances. Machine parts with these special, strong alloys were manufactured with remarkable results and were supplied to the Army, Navy and Air Force.

This company was dissolved in 1945 when the Second World War ended; however, it was started again with the same name Yamato Gokin in 1953 to meet the post-war industrial demand of Japan. Special-alloy materials for important parts of automobiles, trains as well as repair parts of various products were supplied by us with newer technologies based on many years of our experience.

Special alloys such as YG alloys, SY alloys and YMB alloys, as well as copper chromium and copper beryllium were developed. In addition to special aluminum, various bronzes were also developed, and the name of Yamato Gokin as a special- copper-alloy manufacturer widely received credit and trust from a wide range of customers.

Dr. Hagino was, in the 1940's, employed by Mitsubishi Steel Manufacturing, in charge of research in bronze products for ordinances. Therefore, over 60 years of experience has been the base of Yamato Gokin as a special-purpose-alloy producer in Japan.
